Aggression on the RTS Genre

A New RTS game from Eugen Systems, the authors of the Wargame series, R.U.S.E. and Act of War, has been revealed. Coined Act of Aggression, it will offer a futuristic setting with three factions to choose from, all set in a mature, politics-driven plot.

One of the selling points of the game seems to be the idea of returning to the 90s or the golden era of RTS games. This means the reactivation of simple mechanics such as base-building, resource-gathering and ass-kicking, without too many of the modern additions. By the way, the slogan of "returning to the 90s" seems pretty popular lately, doesn't it?

I will skip the introduction of the 3 factions (those interested will find it in the official announcement) and jump right to the core features. The player gets to lead a multitude of different units, both in single- and multiplayer modes. The latter is said to be purely skill based, possibly opening the game for e-sport. But the most interesting aspect seems to be the in-game progress system. Our units will gain experience in battle, unlocking new skills, abilities and specializations. This would suggest a more tactical, less zergy gameplay, something that will surely appeal to many gamers out there.

If you want to learn more about the game, you will want to follow the news from Gamescom, which is starting right about now in Cologne. Of course, Pixel Judge will keep you updated on Act of Aggression as well, so make sure to visit often!
