Advancing into the Future
After the announcement of the next instalment to the titanic FPS series, Call of Duty is back and ready to kick some ass. With Sledgehammer Games steering the boat this time around, they’re planning to shake things up a bit and define a new era and direction for the franchise to go in. The game’s setting is based upon a future in 2054 where the military is in shambles after a global attack. A private military corporation with advanced technologic capabilities has risen to set things right and reinstate order in a war-torn world. Its ‘advanced soldiers’ come equipped with cutting-edge exoskeleton armatures and other high-tech equipment; they are empowered to save humanity.
“This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and an honor for Sledgehammer Games. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the most ambitious and creative project we have ever worked on. From the endless research and thousands of production designs, to our incredible focus on the narrative and amazing attention to detail – we’re taking nothing for granted,” said Glen Schofield, co-founder and game director of Sledgehammer Games. “Call of Duty connects with the fans on such a deep level, and crafting a new vision for the next generation has been so inspiring for us.”
With Kevin Spacey on board, and with what we’ve seen so far in the reveal trailer, who knows what else they have in store to reveal to us later? It looks and sounds like a damn good step up from what we’ve seen before. It can only get better from here on, and I’m looking forward to hearing their plans for other content besides the campaign and expansive multiplayer.
