Activision RnD’s Realistic Heads

By NAG3LT28-03-2013

Surprisingly, graphical development at Activision doesn't consist solely of rewriting Quake 3 engine over and over again. In the Next-Generation Character Rendering presentation at GDC 2013, folks from Activision RnD (Research and Development) have shown their work on realistic faces. The results look quite amazing with a lot of facial detail and realistic shading, while running at 180 FPS on GTX 680. The guy in the video is based on the same ITC data Nvidia has used, but rendering technology was developed separately. It definitely looks very promising and may make its way into games very soon.
