A Rock Solid Simulator

The last few years have seen a massive rise of popularity in the simulator genre. That has mostly to do with YouTubers taking the game that is meant to teach you to drive a bus, farm the land or clean a street and doing something that they were not meant to do – have fun. After the floodgates have opened with the massive success of games like Surgeon Simulator and Goat Simulator we have a new breed of games in the genre. Meet - Rock Simulator.

For a long time, there has been one game missing from the market, a genuine rock simulator. I am here for you today to introduce you to Rock Simulator 2014. This simulator is a rock enthusiasts dream. You can watch beautiful rocks in any location in the world. From grass plains to salt flats, there are dozens of hand designed BEAUTIFUL environments.

Serious or not but this game is getting quite the attention...considering what it is. The developers are having an indiegogo campaign where they already reached more than double the desired goal, and there are 21 more days to go. In the description it says that the game is meant to be free and all the funding required now is for the development and publishing expenses. But when the game is developed will the authors keep it as intended or after the taste of money they’ll decide to charge is to be seen.

Whatever the outcome do you think it’s a good idea to have more of these games, which first and foremost seem like a joke, on the market? Do you think it’s an easy cash in on the success of silly simulators? Or should we just bard our doors and windows and wait out for all of them to die off?

He's still going to make money off it though. Long term. And really, so what? Good on him I say. He's making the most of an opportunity, and giving us a rockin' free game in the process.

Jeezus.. i would've hoped to see a bit more than a re-textured standard UE4 preset. If that game lands on steam, and get's even more covarage, he will be a rich man with 1 hour of work.
