A Realm Reborn Expands Further
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is quite possibly one of the greatest success stories in modern gaming. It turned an abysmal MMO that quite possibly could (and perhaps did) tarnish the Final Fantasy brand, into one of the most well-respected and critically praised MMOs on the market today. It then comes as no surprise that it would be getting an expansion, which was revealed at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest this past weekend.
This first expansion, titled Heavensward, can be construed as attempting to evoke the sense of reaching for the heavens, which fits, considering the content that the expansion contains. Heavensward sees the player journeying to the northern city of Ishgard in an attempt to quell a millennia-long war. Not only that, but there are some other, interesting features packed within as well:
Level cap raised from 50 to 60
New areas, playable race, dungeons, and jobs
More high-end raids
And likely many others. More details are expected to be released at upcoming fan events, the first of which is on the 25th in London, and in Tokyo around the Winter Solstice (20th/21st of December). The release date is tentatively set for the spring of 2015, but as with all things MMO, this is subject to change.
