A Far Cry for Elias Tousfexis
Recently, Deus Ex: Human Revolution got itself a directors cut, just because the developers love their fans, and thought it would be nice to re-work some ideas that weren't done so great. Except they charged money for this work being done, so that you can enjoy an improved and complete standalone package. Although the main focus here is that the voice actor for Adam Jensen, Elias Tousfexis was actually originally cast to voice Jason Brody in Far Cry 3. Well, according to his following statements at MCM Expo anyway:
"In fact, I shouldn't say this, but there's a game called Far Cry 3 which I'm sure you guys know, where I had played Jason Brody. I played him for two years, did the voice and when Deus Ex came out they replaced me because they were nervous that ... 'We don't want people playing this game and thinking of another game'."
Ouch, that's some harsh feedback there Elias! Then again, you can probably see it was perhaps the best decision to make for obvious reasons, such as the character's personalities of Jason Brody and Adam Jensen being worlds apart. He concluded with:
"It's justifiable, it's understandable, but my normal voice is what I used for that character too. So now it's like I'm losing work because Jensen is so popular."
Oh dear, that could be a tough situation to get out of, especially since he didn't ask for this...
