A Busy Week at Bohemia
If you’re one of the many people that picked DayZ up back in December when it launched only to find that it was a little too bare bones, it’s probably hard to keep up with the flurry of updates and dev videos that come out of Bohemia every week or two. Yes, the game is still largely just running around, picking up items, and either murdering or getting murdered by other players. But updates are coming quick; including a big one this month that adds a lot of neat stuff which you can check out on this blog post. I’ll go over some of the stuff here for convenience’s sake.
There’s some technical stuff that a lot of people have been asking for, namely fixes to the lag that cause the game to not be stable enough to have the massive servers that the mod was capable of and the mouse smoothing will be corrected giving everybody 1:1 mouse feedback. This only applies to your head, however. If you’ve got some big gun it probably won’t move as fast as you can turn your head.
There’s also some stuff that sounds increasingly crazy the more I read about it, especially for the way DayZ is right now with not everything being totally functional. They’re putting physics and throwing onto the experimental build, as well as fireplaces and the ability to light things on fire. You’ll be able to “charge up” your throw much like you’d use a bow and it all sounds pretty insane.
So yeah, if you haven’t played DayZ for few months, you should probably jump in and give it a go once all of these updates are live. They sound like they could at least be a little bit of fun to play with unless they’re completely broken.
