2K is a company that seems to be behind a lot of our favourite things. They are responsible for funding the BioShock series, most recently BioShock Infinite. They have also just opened a new studio in San Francisco's Bay area. And they are at it again, this time backing Twitch, the home of PC game streaming Though they are not alone, two  other money companies have also invested with 2K, these are Thrive and WestSummit Capital for a whopping $20 million.

Twitch COO, Kevin Lin said:

"Gamers today have a healthy appetite for both producing and consuming live video game content, so it's vital that we're not only keeping pace with them, but staying one step ahead. With the investments from Thrive Capital, WestSummit Capital, and Take-Two Interactive, it ensures we can more effectively grow and tap into new markets."

It is unlikely that us gamers will see any direct (monetary) benefit from the investment, as the money is going to be used to strengthen behind-the-scenes. At least with the extra cash, we can rest assured that Twitch will still be awesome. Drop us your comments below about this news.
