AquaNox Rises From the Deep
Do you remember AquaNox? The “six degrees of freedom” underwater submarine shooter/exploration game? It wouldn't be much of a surprise if you didn't as the last game released in the series, AquaNox 2, was released almost 12 years ago to the day. Regardless, the series, at the time, was praised for having an immersive world, where you attempted to survive in underwater colonies in the 27th Century following the destruction of much of the land. However, like most, if not all of the 6DOF games, with the evolution of the first-person shooter, AquaNox seemed to have been all but forgotten.
Digital Arrow and Nordic Games haven't forgotten, and that's why they're bringing us this Kickstarter to reimagine AquaNox in a more modern setting. Development is taking place within Unreal Engine 4, and also making use of assets from an unreleased THQ game that Nordic bought up some time ago. Digital Arrow is promising a lot, especially with the seemingly meager funding goal, but it's still well too far out to say that they can't get the job done. Funding will continue until the 11th of September, and we'll report back with news of the project's successes, or perhaps failures at that time.
