RAGEing Into the Future
No need to go into RAGE mode about the game, as it will have a future according to Tim Willits. He claims that the franchise is not dead, even though it received mixed criticism from the gaming community about multiple things, but he insists that ID is still proud of it.
"I'm proud of what we did, I'm proud of the universe that we built. The franchise is not dead. We're not doing anything immediately with it, but when I designed the universe, I designed it in such a way that it would be easy to step back into. I'm still proud that we did something that was different – it wasn't like the games that we've done in the past. We really tried to do one engine that worked for everything."
He went on to say that they've learned from RAGE about how to improve Id Tech 5 for future games which should improve experiences on all platforms.
"It really helps establish a robust tech that, as John said last night, we're adding stuff into it based on the new consoles, and it's allowed people to make different games because the technology is flexible and robust and works on everything."
Although it did have terrible issues with AMD/ATI hardware based PC's (as did Brink too) it'll be likely since the new consoles are running on AMD hardware that performance should stabilise for most people, hopefully. Although we don't know everything ID is working on right now, apparently they're still working on DOOM 4 although it has been rumoured to have been completely scrapped and started from scratch at least once.
