Kickstarting Blooms of ARPG
Bloom: Memories is a hard game to describe. It's an action RPG, but according to the developers, they're seeking to move 'away from the cliche of violence and domination.' In fact, the option exists to complete the entire game without harming anyone or anything if you so choose.
While combat is a valid option available to you, and one that causes you to grow stronger at a different cost, Bloom also boasts a Thief inspired light/dark stealth system, where a single misstep could spell disaster, and a Harvest Moon style dialog system, with the encouragement to 'every now and then, as you consider how to kill the imposing monster standing before you. . . you might instead simply try and say hello.' The world reacts to how you play: 'Be violent...and the world will react more violently in return. Be kind, and the world may soften, revealing a more loving side.'
Also, it just looks absolutely gorgeous! I mean, check out the visuals in the video above - which is merely the pre-alpha tech demo and some concept artwork - and tell me that you've seen a prettier title at that stage of development!
Bloom is currently halfway to it's crowdfunding target, and looks intriguing enough to merit my putting money on it, without having played the demo. So give it a look, play the demo if you want to, and maybe put some of your own money down, or vote for it on Greenlight. Whatever you pick, do something!
